If you are in an unhealthy church culture, it may be time to move on.

We’re entering that last part of the year, and if you’re like many church staff members, you start to do a little planning and dreaming for the next year.  This planning brings up a lot of questions about your future: What are my personal, family, and spiritual goals? How happy am I vocationally, and do I feel that God wants me to stay here for another year of ministry?
These are big questions, and they are important ones to answer.

But let’s look at the last one… Do I feel that God wants me to stay in my current church for another year?

I hope the answer is yes!  But sometimes, it’s hard to discern what God is telling you in this area.

Today we want to talk about four reasons it may be time to move on.  These are only four reasons, but they may help you shape your thoughts and plans for the new year:

1. You have a change in your sense of calling
2. You’ve become the lid for the ministry
3. You’re bored
4. Toxicity that isn’t going away.

Of course, moving on (or staying) is a huge decision for you and your family. You need to bathe your considerations in prayer and seek out the advice of your ministry mentors.  But I hope that it may be the starting point in helping you determine what 2023 looks like for you and your family.
