On the first snap of the Las Vegas Raiders and San Francisco 49ers joint practice on Friday, August 11th, Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams and was hit by 49ers cornerback Charvarius Ward.  Raiders coaches and players were concerned as Adams laid on the field for several moments before limping off.  Fortunately, the injury appears minor.

Afterwards, in this article written for The Athletic, Tashan Reed noted, “The 30-year-old receiver has been incredibly durable throughout his career.  He’s missed just 11 games in nine seasons and hasn’t missed any time since 2020.  On top of that, he almost never misses practice.”

Adams teaches us that the three greatest abilities a leader has are:

  1. Dependability
  2. Reliability
  3. Availability

If you can’t show up consistently, I can’t count on you.  If I can’t count on you, you simply can’t be on the team.

Average people who are dependable, reliable, and available are more valuable than talented people who are undependable, unreliable, and unavailable.
