The most anticipated session of the day was Perry Noble’s interview with Mark Driscoll.  As he starts to launch The Trinity Church, the two had a very candid conversation.

  1. I’m blessed with an amazing wife and some amazing Godly children.
  2. Three kinds of marriage – Shoulder to Shoulder, Back to Back, and Face to Face.
  3. Many Catholics know and love Jesus. I wasn’t one of them.
  4. I grew up in a poor, working-class, high moral value Catholic home.
  5. I was the first man in the history of my family to go to college.
  6. I got save reading the Bible.
  7. I started ministry too young and too young in the Lord. I needed a Godly mentor but not sure I would have listened.
  8. It is remarkable what we get to do. Tell people about Jesus and watch Him change their life.
  9. Once you get radically saved, you have a passion to see people get saved. I got saved at 19.
  10. A lot of people who allow me to teach them God’s Word are young men.
  11. I really feel the next season God is preparing me for is to minister as a spiritual father.
  12. At Mars Hill we saw a lot of surges that no one can explain. Only God can explain it.
  13. There are things God did I have no explanation for.
  14. I was flying a kite and a hurricane came and I didn’t know what I was doing.
  15. We’re all blind to our own blindspots.
  16. If you love Jesus and you believe the Bible and you can put up with me, I’m happy to hang out. I want to learn from God’s entire family.
  17. The nation of Israel was tribes but they were one nation.
  18. The people who have helped me learn during this season have been very kind to my wife and I.
  19. Brothers can say things fathers can’t. A father carries more authority. There is a deep and profound father wound in boys and girls.
  20. There is a lot of bitterness around fatherhood.
  21. When there is bitterness towards your father it brings torment into your life.
  22. A lot of life is observation.
  23. I love the Lord Jesus.
  24. A lot of us minister out of the age we are in.
  25. The church family becomes a reflection of your own family.
  26. We’re starting with nothing but five kids who love the Lord. It’s the best core group I’ve ever had.
  27. I woke up every Sunday for six months and cried.
  28. God was and has been incredibly faithful.
  29. God gave us wise counsel, wonderful friends, and great affection with Grace (his wife). My deep appreciation for my wife, there is not a man more blessed than me.
  30. We love Jesus and the Father is good and we’re going to be together.
  31. The kids can borrow your faith for awhile but at some point they have to have their own.
  32. If there is any lesson for leaders, it is to receive God’s forgiveness and to extend God’s forgiveness to others.
  33. Where forgiveness stops flowing, that is where life stops flourishing.
  34. If something throws a rock, pick it up and look at it. See if there is anything there that is helpful.
  35. Communication is instant, constant, global and permanent.
  36. There are three kinds of people – wise, foolish and evil.
  37. The response to these three people are different.
  38. Judas was evil. Peter was foolish but he became wise.
  39. Things can get on you but you can’t let it get in you.
  40. There are times when you will feel attacked or criticized, when you take it personal, you make it personal, you forget about the people. It’s always about the people. You need to do whatever is necessary for their well-being.
  41. When you’re angry you fight for something. We lost something so we grieved.
  42. Lamenting allows you to process with the Lord without gossiping.
  43. It’s just complaining to the Lord until it’s transferred to the Lord. Then it’s prayer.
  44. It’s a new ministry for Grace and I. Pastors in crisis call us.
  45. The two pedals on the bike for us will be the Bible and love.
  46. Good theology results in loving relationships.
  47. True leadership flows out of a place of love. Good doctrine leads to good, loving relationships.
  48. We’re going to teach people to read the Bible and have friends.
  49. My job is not to use people but to love them and serve them.
  50. We are a family that loves the church. With or without me, they’re going to plant a church.
