With school starting back this Wednesday, today was Teacher Appreciation Day at Piedmont Church in Marietta, GA. To celebrate this time together, Senior Pastor Ike Reighard and the church’s leadership put on an event centering on theme of Filling Buckets.
Every educator and administrator in our area was invited to our church today. Dozens and dozens showed up and attended the service. Each was asked to stand where they were prayed over. In addition, each was presented a literal bucket filled with gift cards, an inspirational book, and several other gifts. A picture of the 300 buckets prepared is shown below.
Ike also delivered a message on the importance of filling other people’s buckets. 9 Leadership Quotes from the service are provided below:
- When you fill up other people’s bucket, you actually fill you up your own as well.
- Every drop in your bucket gives you a more positive outlook.
- When people dip from your bucket it hurts.
- An empty bucket poisons your outlook.
- The last human freedom any of us have is the ability to choose our attitude in the midst of whatever we face.
- Whatever is in the well of your heart comes up in the bucket of your mouth.
- The more you fill other people’s buckets the more your’s is filled. This is the Law of Sowing and Reaping.
- You will either fill other people’s buckets or dip from them. Don’t be a dipper.
- Do unto others as they would have you do unto them. This is The Platinum Rule.
Dozens and dozens of educators attended Piedmont Church this morning. It was a day of great attendance but this was a secondary benefit. The primary benefit is these teachers and administrators were encouraged, blessed, and valued. Our communities are better places because of their investment.
Having a Teacher Appreciation Day at your church is an easy, high-impact way to increase church attendance and impact your community’s schools. Think about it. Most schools are woefully under-funded and educators need all the help they can get. Also, many are new to their communities. They are finding new doctors, hair stylists, grocery stores, mechanics, restaurants, and yes – churches. This is a great way to introduce them to your ministry.
